Chloe

Update: Chloe Found a Home!

The Animal Shelter staff received a call several weeks back about an emaciated dog in a
backyard. The caller was so worried about the dog that they emailed us some photos of
the dog in her backyard later that day. We were deeply concerned and sChloe the dogent an officer out right away. Proper procedure was followed and we rescued Chloe from an inhumane life.

We brought Chloe back to the shelter where she was looked after by our medical staff who declared that Chloe’s condition was a direct result of starvation and a generalized infection from bite wounds on her flank.

She is a wonderful dog who has never lost her spirit. From the moment the officer encountered her through the fence at her yard she has wagged her tail. On intake she just wanted to lay her head in staff’s hands.

Weeks and weeks of rehabilitation have now made Chloe available for adoption! She is an
active young pit bull that needs a forever home. She will need some training like most
young dogs but, should do fine in a stable Chloe at the fencehome. She has been tested with cats, and with
proper introduction should be fine there too. She gets along great with other
dogs.

She is on some medication for her thyroid that she needs to be given daily right now.
The vet is not sure if this problem will resolve itself on its own or not. She will need a blood test in 30 days to recheck. The medication is very inexpensive, about $10 per bottle, and the shelter will send you home with a couple bottles to get you started.

The former owner of Chloe has been charged with animal cruelty and the case is pending.

When you make a donation to Sacramento County Animal Care & Regulation you save
lives like Chloe’s. You make it possible for the investigations, officers, vet team and kennel staff to do what they need to do.

Chloe was adopted by her forever family on Feb 2. More details about her new family to Chloe looking through the fence
