- Insert batting into pillow case, flatten to fit inside.
- Turn in unsown end and topstitch the opening shut with a 1/4” seam.
- Topstitch a pattern on the bed to help keep the batting in place through industrial‐type washing machines. A sample pattern is to measure in 3” from all four sides and stitch a 3” border around the bed. You can be creative and stitch a 3” border around the bed. Cat beds can be made in any size. Preferred finished size is 18” by 18”. Make a pillow case and then cut the batting to fit, leave 2” at top to tuck in. Be creative. Mix, match, piece materials, cat’s don’t care, they just want something soft, warm to lay on, but the bright colors do attract adopters’ attention. Finished beds can be dropped off at the shelter during regular business hours.
