Pet Pantry

Temporary Assistance Program

The Pet Pantry is a service of the Sacramento County Bradshaw Animal Shelter and provides pet food to unincorporated County households and individuals that need temporary assistance. The Pet Pantry is made possible through the generous donations by private citizens and local businesses, and we are happy to help pet owners in need as we can.

  • The quantity of food distributed will be based on number of animals in the home, their size, age and available supply of food at the time of distribution. We strive to provide recipients a month’s worth of food at a time, but unfortunately, there is no guarantee, as it is based upon our resources.
  • Recipients are required to show valid identification each time they come in for Pet Pantry assistance.
  • Recipients cannot add an animal to their household within 90 days of receiving assistance through any pet food program, this includes pet food programs at other area animal shelters. Doing so will forfeit all Pet Pantry privileges.
  • The Pet Pantry program is not intended for households needing long-term assistance. Should assistance extend beyond 6 months, a review of the pet owner’s circumstances may be performed in order to receive further assistance.
  • The shelter reserves the right to refuse assistance to anyone we believe may be abusing the program.
