Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if the dog I want to adopt will get along with my dog?
You are welcome to bring your dog to the shelter for a meet and greet. We recommend bringing two people, one person to wait with your pet outside or with them in your air-conditioned car, and one to meet the dog you're interested in adopting. After the initial human meet and greet, staff will assist you with a pet meet and greet to make sure it's a match.

2. Do you have any dogs or cats that are good with kids?
Most of our pets come to us as strays, so we do not have a history of what kind of families they have lived with in the past. However, many of our pets go on to be great family companions! We invite you to bring your family to the shelter to meet them and see which pets are a match for you!

3. Do you have any dogs that are good with cats?

We cannot test dogs with cats in the shelter environment, but we do recommend slow introductions once you're at home. For steps you can take, please visit How to introduce a dog and cat

4. How do I know if a particular pet is still available?

As long as the pet still appears on our adoptable pets page, they are still available for adoption. If they no longer appear, they are no longer available.

5. How can I get additional information about a particular pet?

We try to share as many details as we can online. For pets that are newer to our shelter, we may still be getting to know them and may not have a lot of details. Remember, most of our pets come to us as strays, so we don't often know about their prior lives! The very best way to get more information is to come meet them in person!
