Waived Fee Dog Adoptions

Bradshaw Animal Shelter is flooded with adorable, adoptable dogs, and we need your help to get them into loving homes! We are past capacity and completely out of kennel space.

To help dogs find forever homes, we are waiving their adoption fees from Tuesday, January 9th, through Saturday, January 13th. Included in the adoption is your new dog’s spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, and a 1-year license for Sacramento County residents, all at no cost to you.

View all available dogs. New dogs become available daily and the website updates automatically every 30 minutes, so keep an eye on our website. The shelter is located at 3839 Bradshaw Rd and open from 12-5pm Tuesday through Sunday for adoptions and 12-6pm on Wednesdays.
  • How can I find out more information about a dog?
    • Most of our dogs come to us as strays, so we do not know about their lives prior to coming to the shelter. We get to know them during their stay with us! For pets newer to our shelter, we may not have a lot of details yet. Most details that we have can be seen in their bios on our website, but the very best way to find more information is to come meet them yourself in person.
  • Does the dog that I’m interested in do well with kids?
    • We cannot “test” dogs with kids or give one-size-fits-all responses, as every dog, child, and family is different. Many of our dogs go onto be wonderful family pets. We recommend bringing your children to the shelter to meet the dogs you’re interested in to see if they are a match for your family.
  • Does the dog that I’m interested in do well with cats?
    • We cannot “test” dogs with cats, but some dogs can do well with cats if given slow introductions. For everyone’s safety, we recommend reviewing these methods of introductions. If you need additional advice, please speak to our staff.
  • Does the dog that I’m interested in do well with other dogs?
    • We have doggie playgroups at our shelter. If the dog you are interested in has been at our shelter long enough to have participated in a doggie playgroup, we can tell you if they are social with other dogs and what their play style is like. If you have a dog at home, you are welcome to bring them to our shelter for a meet and greet with the dog you’re interested in. Staff will assist to make sure that they are properly introduced. Meet and greets will take place outside. For everyone’s safety, we cannot allow your dog into the shelter. We recommend bringing two adults (one person to wait outside or in your vehicle with your dog until it’s time for the meet and greet, and one person to go inside, speak with our staff, and meet the dog you’re interested in).
