Wild Animals
We do not handle live wild animals, including skunks, poisonous snakes (incuding Rattlesnakes), possums, and deer. We do assist with cows, horses, and llamas. Call 916-368-7387 for more information.
The County Agricultural Commission has a trapper service that sets traps and picks up raccoons, skunks, possums, and coyotes. See the Wildlife Services - County Agricultural Commission for more details.
Some wild animals may carry rabies or ticks that carry the disease tularemia, so it is best to leave wild animals alone, and to make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies and have been treated against fleas or ticks if they are indoor/outdoor pets.

Rattlesnakes
If you see a rattlesnake:
- Keep your distance and keep children and pets away.
- Do not attempt to touch, capture, move or kill the snake.
- Give the snake plenty of space and an opportunity to leave on its own.
- If the snake is on your property and needs to be removed, contact a licensed wildlife or pest-control professional that provides snake removal.
- If someone is bitten, call 911 and seek emergency medical care immediately. For more information, call the California Poison Control System at (800) 222-1222.
- If a pet is bitten, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital immediately.
Bees
- Animal Care does not respond to bee issues.
