Before You Adopt

Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment. Please consider:

  • Do you have the time and patience to train, feed, walk, and care for a pet daily?
  • Can you afford food, vet visits, licensing, and other expenses?
  • Are pets allowed where you live? (Renters must provide proof.)
  • Are you at least 18 years old?

Dogs vs Cats

  • Dogs need companionship - being left alone outside can lead to anxiety and behavior issues.
  • Cats live longer and healthier lives indoors (15 years on average vs. 2 years outdoors).

Young vs Adult Pets

  • Puppies and kittens are cute but require extra time, training, and may not fit every household.
  • Adult pets are often calmer and may be a better match.
