Feral cats are born outdoors, unsocialized to people, and not adoptable as pets. They live outside and fend for themselves.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
- TNR is the most humane and effective way to manage feral cat populations.
- Cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their location.
- Fixed cats are marked with a tipped/notched ear.
- TNR stops breeding and reduces nuisance behaviors.
Why Not Removal?
Removing or euthanizing feral cats doesn’t work. New, unaltered cats move in and the cycle continues.
Feral Kittens
Kittens can be socialized and adopted if handled young. If not, they remain feral.
Note: Spay/neuter is the best way to control the cat population.
